After visiting Mayfield and Cotswold Lavender fields last year, one of my favourite summer past times has since become visiting lavender fields. And this year I discovered we had one right here is Sussex! However it is only open for one week a year, and that week was this week!
Not wanting to miss out and making the most of not working Friday afternoons, immediately after I logged off from work yesterday, I met my friend Lili and we headed over to Lordington Lavender.

The next couple of hours were spent doing little more than chatting and taking pictures.

Nestled amidst the South Downs, Lordington Lavender is a small family run four acre field of buzzing purple bliss.

What could be a more relaxing way to enter the weekend than to take a stroll amongst fragrant rows of lavender listening to the busy bumble bees.
After we had taken a walk around we found a quiet spot to sit and enjoy a cup of tea and slide of lavender shortbread.

Both Lili and I found Lordington Lavender to be far less commercial than some of the larger more well-known lavender fields. It also felt more family oriented.

The field is open to the public for the rest of this weekend only, so if you find yourself at a loose end in Sussex and looking for a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours why not stop in… Details here.
Plus dogs are welcomed on leads too. We even saw someone with a cat on a lead!
Love for now Emma x
