Just a short post today for those who are looking for an alternative to the booze this Christmas.
On cold December nights there is nothing that I enjoy more than snuggling down on the sofa with Chris and the Dals in front of the fire, with a warm mug of mulled wine in my hand.
This December is a little different however with our precious baby on board. Therefore I wanted to find a substitute, and have tried a few different versions before finding one that makes me feel like I am drinking Christmas in a mug as my mulled wine once did.
The substitute I have turned to is a non alcoholic mulled wine.
Be it alcoholic or non alcoholic this drink is super easy to make and really does taste and smell like Christmas in a mug.
Ingredients I used included:
- 1 litre of Cranberry juice
- 1 cup of frozen cranberries
- 2 Cinnamon sticks
- A pinch of nutmeg
- 1 orange
- 1 apple diced
- 3 star anise
I made this recipe in the slow cooker, however it can just as easily be made on the hob.
I mixed the ingredients in the slow cooker and left on a low heat for 2 hours for the flavours to infuse.
Once ready I served in front of a roaring fire in big mugs, adding a a slice of orange and a cinnamon stick for decorating.
If you give this recipe a try do let me know if it was enjoyed.
Merry Christmas and love for now Emma x
