Mothers Day Gifts Ideas

More often than not, my own Mother and I spend Mothers Day outside, either riding our horses or walking our dogs, therefore for us there may be little change as to how we may spend this Mother’s Day together. Gift wise I usually book us in for an afternoon tea at a nice hotel, however we would never go on Mothers Day itself as neither of us like overly crowded places!

For the majority of us here in the UK, the 14th of March will be the second Mothers Day whereby we cannot be with our dear Mothers in person, and anytime spent together this Mothers Day may well be virtual, or look very different to how we would generally spend the day. We can however still post out a special gift that can go a little way to showing the leading lady in our life just how much she is loved and appreciated. In this blog post you will find ideas that I have had when picking gifts for my own Mother. As I cannot buy them all, I thought I would share these ideas with you in case you need a little inspiration to help find the perfect gift for your own Mother. All the gifts mentioned in this post are from brands I love to use myself.

A hamper; quite possibly one of the things I enjoy gifting most. I especially love to handpick items to create a truly unique hamper. Sometimes though, I will leave it to the experts such as Cartwright & Butler. With a wide variety of luxury food hampers to choose from you are sure to find the perfect one to suit both your budget and your Mothers tastes. View hampers here or you could even build your own.

Beautiful skin; give your mother the gift of a skincare boost just in time for spring. Aurelia Skincare have some lovely luxurious products, a few of which I use myself daily, and can therefore vouch for how wonderful they are. Aside from the products being luxurious to use they come beautifully packed so make perfect gifts. What’s more if you purchase any gift set from their Mother’s Day Gift Edit, and use code use code MUM at checkout you will also get a free gift of a full size Revitalise & Glow Serum (worth £64).

A year of days out together; the gift that keeps giving, if you and your mother enjoy getting out and about, exploring beautiful places together, followed by coffee and cake I am sure she would love to be gifted a National Trust Membership.

In the frame; frame what matters most by creating a unique piece of wall art that holds special meaning, be it a place you’ve enjoyed together or holds happy memories, a moment you’ve shared, or perhaps her most loved photo turned in to text art. Create your personalised print.

A new key piece for her wardrobe; if your Mother is style conscious you could consider brightening up her day and wardrobe with a new top or by gifting a new accessory or two from the ever cheerful and stylish collections at Joules. View the Mothers Day collection here.

Scent to remember; smell is said to be the most powerful of all the senses, so if you and your mother have a special link to a county in the UK or one of which holds precious memories, while you may not be able to visit right now, you could send her the scent of the county buy gifting a hand poured natural soy wax candle from Home County Candle CO. I have a few of these at home and they really are the most stunning candles, especially with their wooden crackling wicks. Right now you can get 10% off of your first order when you sign up to their mailing list.

Raise a glass; does your Mother like tea and a tipple? if so have you heard of NOVELTEA? They have some wonderful alcoholic teas, and after having tried a few last year I can honestly say they are delicious. As a gift combo you could look at a NOVELTEA bottle of alcoholic tea and glass teapot to give the gift of a tea with a remarkable difference. Browse teas here. You could print off the serving suggestions and include in a boozy care package.

Another drinks based idea I had was that of sending a cocktail making kit. Double up and you could do a cocktail making session together virtually. I found these kits from this is Nessie, the kits are sourced from a local pub (to them), which I feel is fantastic given the current boost our pubs need, additionally the kits are packaged to be able to fit through a letterbox. This is Nessie also have a beautiful range of personalised glasses which would complete the gift perfectly.

Put pen to paper; should you be good at writing poems, then why not put you skills in to a personalised poem to your Mother stating all that you love about her, perhaps putting it in a frame with a picture of you both.

Sentimental; I am extremely sentimental as is my Mother, so I love gifts that are truly sentimental. I really like the idea of gifting a journal for your Mother to fill out, filling the pages with her life story, precious moments and words of wisdom. The book can then be passed back to you to hold on to as a most treasured family heirloom. I personally love this one from Emily Rollings (you can get 10% off of your first order by signing up to their mailing list at present). As an alternative and a little less expensive I also found this hard cover one that has the same purpose.

Start a scrapbook of your days out together. My mother and I have one of these and it always makes me smile when I open the pages and read back on our days together. This one from Wildflower Illustrations would be perfect.

Plan and write an itinerary for a trip you would like to take together once the world opens up her doors once more. I do this for all our trips!

All-round blooming beautiful; finally, what Mothers day is complete without a beautiful fresh bunch of flowers? I often turn to Bloom and Wild when it comes to sending flowers, they have a wonderful selection to choose from and flowers have always lasted as I would expect them to. I also choose to use Bloom and Wild as I know that they are doing their bit when it comes to the environment and minimising their impact, which is something that I feel very strongly about. View beautiful blooms here.
